I recently had restored my computer so that a virus would go away. Long story short, virus was gone, but I had important stuff that is now deleted, and that I want back. What can I do do get all my files back.
Michael's right. If my memory serves me, hard drives contain tiny tiny bits and pieces of deleted files. If your willing to pay enough (LOTS AND LOTS OF $$$$$) and you can find the right person, they may be able to restore some of the files. I'm assuming that you are not Oprah, so I don't think you could afford it. I may just be repeating an urban legend but I don't know. Anyways, that really sucks for you.
As far as anti-virus, I would highly recommend Kaspersky Internet Security. It's only 20ish bucks on Amazon. I've never had an issue with it.

In windows 8 free anti virus is already installed Microsoft Security essentials. Its in windows defender. Just turn on windows defender. Microsoft is not allowed to tell you at the time of purchase because the AV companys would sue Microsoft.
In win 7 MSE is a seperate download.
Sorry but you wiped them. Did you never READ the file about factory reset and the WARNING about backing up files first…Oh of course you DIDN'T.
Forget ANY recovery software anybody offers as you did a RESET and there is nothing to recover anymore. (Those are for files you delete out of the trash and need back NOT from a formatted disc)
you cant do anything. once windows wipes the hardrive and re installs then everything is gone and deleted. also windows re install should be the last option u do, that is you should have dissconected the computer from the intenet and get a free trusted virus scanner like malawarebytes and ran it, and you could have removed the virus. without having to reinstall windows. you also could have save all ur files to a usb flash drive. but its too late know.
Well you could try some Data recovery apps but there is no guarantee.
Those files may have been overwritten and could be long gone.
Hope it helps 🙂
