I m about to move in to my aunts place to house sit for awhile and she has internet and WiFi set up again, my rules r I can t leave the house and no one can come over, this will b for a few months possibly, so I m bringing myself some entertainment and was gonna ask her if i could hook them up to her WiFi and watch YouTube or play online, but I m afraid it ll raise her internet bill up or some, so my question is, if i stay connected to her WiFi and use it alot, like ALOT possibly, will it cost her any additional money on her internet and WiFi stuff?
If she is no longer in an initial contract period, then she might suspend the service while she is away, in which case you can offer to pay for the service while she is away so you can use it.
If she has a monthly cap, then there may be a surcharge if you exceed the cap.
If you can't leave the house, then you could point out that you will need the Internet service so you can order food for delivery to her house and pay your credit card bill.
Incidentally, if she has bought her own router then it makes no difference whether use a wired connection (Ethernet) to your Xbox or use WiFi. The Internet supplier cannot tell the difference.
Finally, you might want applications such as Skype as it could get awfully lonely if you cannot leave the house and cannot have people round.
Most internet service in the USA is flat rate. You pay for the maximum speed and is all-you-can-eat up to a certain point, after which you'll be throttled (slowed down). Gaming is just fine, file sharing or heavy video watching (hours of Netflix every night) can run into an arbitrary monthly limit.
Assuming she has an unlimited plan with her ISP then you could use as much as you want with no issues.
If she is on a plan that allows a certain amount a month then you'd have to limit your use to that.
You will have to ask her. Some contracts: Yes, it will cost her a lot. Some contracts: No, it wont cost her anything. Some contracts: You will be blocked after a certain usage is reached.
In most cases, it won't cost extra, but to be sure, ask your Aunt's internet service provider.
Simple ask your aunt.
Who cares? I hope she's paying you mucho dinero too.
