Yahoo User: There are great women programmers and great men programmers. I think women have to prove themselves more but in the end women if they are good and don't give up, they succeed. Men have to work hard too.
I don't think, women are more better computer programmers than men. But i think men are not less better for computer programmers…..
The media ran amok last week with a research study which looked at gender bias on Github, a site where programmers can submit open-source code vetted by a community.
Vice went for the balls with this simplistic headline: “Women Are Better at Coding than Men.”
The article itself devoted only two paragraphs to the study, which included this line: “According to their findings, code written by women is viewed more favorably when the coder’s gender is kept secret.
Its not the fact that women are better programmers then men, its all about the way in which the person goes about learning the programming language and the way in which they execute their skills and knowledge.
Through working with hundreds of different types of programmers, they all anticipate and execute a programming task differently. Therefore, I have seen that women just tend to look and analyse the little basics and take those basics and learn more and more from that point. Men on the other hand, just likes to go straight into the more advanced aspects and terminology without concentrating on the basics.
This just proves that women are not better programmers then men, its all about the way the person conducts himself/herself towards programming and the way in which they want to learn and broaden their skills.
It is not the fact that women are better programmers than men, its all about the way in which the person goes about learning the programming language and the way in which they execute their skills and knowledge.
there are awesome women programmers and awesome men programmers… i think women have to prove themselves more but in the end women if they are good and don't give up, they succeed… men have to work hard too…
HOWEVER- programming tends to be male dominated, resulting in
those women who take it up tend to be better (more interested in it) than the average woman
a lot of the men who take it up are not that much better than average (they just think they are – in fact a lot are poor)
ie the "average" woman programmer tends to be better that the "average" man programmer
did you pull this information out of your ***? there's no way women are better programmers…
Are they? I know few female programmers. Only with one I talked about her job. She had many years experience but because of her age she only did installations.
