such condescending jerks? I mean seriously, out of all the boards here on Yahoo Answers, and even forums across the web, Software Engineers / Computer Scientists are group of the works *******. You guys think WAY too much of yourselves and consider everyone else around you much lesser.
Oh I have been asking questions, and good ones too. This goes beyond just Yahoo Answers too. I just don't like the fact that so many of you decide it would be better to put people down than to help them. It's funny because this is the only field that really does this too. It's something about an

Oh I have been asking questions, and good ones too. This goes beyond just Yahoo Answers too. I just don't like the fact that so many of you decide it would be better to put people down than to help them. It's funny because this is the only field that really does this too. It's something about an engineer's pride that is just odd.

I think a lot of it is due to frustration. For example, a person will ask a simple question, but provide no details. Someone giving an answer will say "google it", only because the question does not provide enough details top properly answer it.
Then, people that know a lot (not just software, but cars, cooking, etc.) have a hard time understanding why the person asking the question does not even know the "basics". Ya, it does take experience to know all this, but someone asking a question should at least demonstrate they have looked into it on their own, provide what they have found so far, what does or does not work, and then ask the question with enough detail to get an "intelligent" response without someone looking down their nose at you.

It also comes about because some people think they "know everything", but they do not in reality. However, their answers are geared to show how "smart" they are, kind of a boasting/pride kind of thing. It does not help much of course.

And finally, there are some people that ask questions that just do not make any sense, even here on YA. One can honestly state they cannot answer it, ask they make the question more clear, explain what you are doing better, etc.

There are "butt heads" on both sides of the question/answer on forums. Often each complain about the other…

Of course Programmers look down at Programmer Wanna Bees.
Programming is hard and you have to be very smart to do it.
Aspies tend to be programmers and Software engineers.
They also tend to be a bit socially inept.

"consider everyone else around you much lesser"
because they are?

Dick:
They really aren't. I worked with many, many software engineers during my career in the defense electronics industry and I never had a bad experience. The problem is that the insecure individuals or just plain mean spirited people are on here (Yahoo Answers) in droves. They come here because of the anonymity and that they can exercise their mean spirit on people that in person might just put their "headlights" out. The tend to insult folks that may have less experience in a specific knowledge category than they do. You really need to try to develop a thicker skin and only listen to and acknowledge the folks that truly want to help you out. The a–holes of this world all drop by the wayside sooner or later… so just know and enjoy the fact that they'll get what's coming to them sooner or later.
Chris:
Rants like this are usually posted by people who asked stuff that is easily solved by googleing it.

Can you post a few links that back up your loaded question?

Edit:
Post some links. Otherwise you're just making sh!t up.

They were hired for their programming skills, NOT for their people skills.
