So I have an old motherboard that only has AMD sockets and I have wanted to buy a new processor, my processor is the

AMD Phenom(tm} II X4 960T Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.0GHz

And I have been thinking about buying a

Phenom II X6 1045T 2.70 GHz Processor – Socket AM3 PGA-938

One worry is that it may not be worth

One worry is that it may not be worth the money. I primarily use this PC for gaming and I will often have a few tabs open or a Teamspeak. I also have a NVIDIA GTX 660 and I was curious if the new processor would bottleneck it just like the old one. thank you

Adam: I agree with your concerns that upgrading the processor won't give much benefit for the outlay. You would be better getting a more modern motherboard and processor

If the new processor is faster, then it will bottleneck the gpu more… Unless it was the gpu that was bottlenecking the processor! All depends which was slowing what down.

not much diff….if u are encounter low fps or lagging during gaming with teamspeak, if i remember clearly, i can ran smoothly with 1 gaming and 1 low consumption software with AMD Phenomâ„¢ II X4 + 8gb ram.

i would recommend u upgrade your gpu or ram first.
