50 Megabytes/second – Wow. Did you mean 50 Mb/s (Megabits/second)?

If you are using the same type of wireless network adapter, with the same drivers, and you and your brother are the same distance from the router with no walls or doors in the way and no large metal objects around, then they should be capable of achieving the same speeds.

Mb/s is not the measurement you should be worried about. Ping times in ms (millisecond) will be more important in estimating lag time.

Some wireless adapters are not fully compatible with certain routers. This can show up as slow connections, random disconnections, failure to connect to a network, or in the extreme not even detecting that the network is there. Sometimes this is a hardware problem, sometimes it just needs a better driver to be installed.

Distance from the router can also make the connection slower if the distance to large. Also, reflections off metal objects or attenuation when the signal has to pass through walls can make WiFi work badly.

Any serious online gamer would never use WiFi and would always use an Ethernet connection to the router.

It may be your computer, tablet etc. I know my sisters computer is very laggy but mine isn't. It may also be the game your playing.
Penelope:
Maybe it's your device that's causing the problem??
