A virtual LAN (VLAN) is any broadcast domain that is partitioned and isolated in a computer network at the data link layer (OSI layer 2). LAN is an abbreviation for local area network. To subdivide a network into virtual LANs, one configures network equipment.
A wireless local area network (WLAN) is a wireless computer network that links two or more devices using a wireless distribution method (often spread-spectrum or OFDM radio) within a limited area such as a home, school, computer laboratory, or office building.
VLANs(virtual LAN) are configured through software rather than hardware, which makes them extremely flexible. One of the biggest advantages of VLANs is that when a computer is physically moved to another location, it can stay on the same VLAN without any hardware reconfiguration.
A wireless local area network (WLAN) provides wireless network communication over short distances using radio or infrared signals instead of traditional network cabling. A WLAN is a type of local area network (LAN)
I believe wlan would be wireless LAN.
And vlan would be virtual LAN. You can actually have multiple networks on the same Ethernet wire that do not pay attention to each other, depending upon their netmask. Often that is done with managed network switches to control who is able to access what. But I have done that with alias IP addresses on a Linux PC where Linux routed and masqueraded IP address on a 2nd network as its IP on the main LAN, so the 2nd network on the same wire could access the Internet through a router that was only aware of the 1st network.
VLan is Virtual lan which divides internal network and it is secured too ,more clear information check on wikipedia where as WLan is wireless lan use to connect lan with out wire
VLAN stands for Virtual LAN and it is used as Ethernet connection for a virtual machine.
WLAN stands for wireless LAN and it is used for connecting internet.
W is wireless. V is virtual, and can be created over a wired or wireless network.
wlan has an extra v hidden in front
