No social development, typos can sometime ruin relationships, career,I have seen cases about sending image to wrong person or hilarious autocorrect fails. Video calling is amazing though,it helps various people get lessons, tutoring from various parts of the world.or small/inexperienced surgeons getting guides from experienced surgeon from miles away live! Due to video call.i don't know it's drawbacks till now I think only drawback is cost of internet.

The biggest issue with communication other than face to face is the lack of clues, tones, timing, etc. You need to be extremely skilled to get things right in writing, as it's easily mistaken.

no verbal clues
no facial clues
no tonal clues
no reaction clues

Also, text can be easily stored (can be advantage for documentation), and can also be used against you, taken out of context.

Can be intercepted unless encrypted or VPN used.

Someone knowledgeable can actually spoof messages, I can send a message to the White House and they'll think it's from you it will have your name & email.

Depending on the online comm speeds, video can be choppy or audio undecipherable.

Online communication saves your time and also cost-effective. But one thing you need to remember is that it is not that secured and you cannot completely trust the other end user if he/she is someone new.
Megan:
Unable to read body language and facial expressions. Unable to identify vocal inflection. Sarcasm does not always translate well. Misunderstanding are more likely to occur. Lack of personalization.
Gabriel:
Becoming a zombie to technology, it's a very common thing these days and very dangerous as less people are being interactive with one another.

Michael:
it gets rid of the face to face contact that you can get with people — which allows you to read body language and signals which would give you an idea on how the conversation is going
Ashish:
You can hear or see the person on the other end but you cannot smell, taste or feel them…(^..^)
