I'm not really one to be careless with my possessions, and I'm the only one who's going to use it. Currently, I live at home since I only go to a community college for now, so i'll be using it in a pretty controlled environment. Should I still spend the extra $250-350?
Thanks

I got a Dell Inspiron R 15 3521 in January 2014 on discount for $400 and I got an extended warranty (now expired). I don't use it off a table in my house, only took it somewhere less than half a dozen times. Laptop is fine still. So I was overly cautious, not necessary for that warranty.

Extended warranties are only there for one thing – to make money for the insurance company. In general you are better saving the costs of insurance as the chances of a fault developing are small.

Up to you! Many people "self-insure" these days. Put aside a chunk of money that you use to replace items that break. The same money can be used as self insurance for PC, laptop, phone, TV, games machine etc.
