Was even created yet? Like what are they wizards?
There were computers before Steve Jobs and the Woz built the first Apple.
Back in those days computers where pretty basic. You could actually buy all the parts off the shelf and solder them together. ( I built several myself) You had Data books that showed all the connections and default logic needed to make the chips function. You ended up with something with less computer power than a modern toaster, but it was a computer.
The clever part was putting it all together to make a useful computer. Jobs and Co did, and went on to found a successful company while many others came and went as they failed to come up with new products that people wanted. Remember Commodore Computers? That's what I first worked on (repairing etc). They where technically ahead of Apple at the time, but lost their way after the release of the Amiga and eventually went broke.
Jobs didn't build the computer. His friend Wozniak did.
You can see pictures of the first Apple computer online, and yes, it's just a green motherboard with a bunch of chips hand-soldered to it with a bunch of wires.
The Apple Computer wasn't the first computer – far from it. What made the Apple Computer special was that it was a computer intended for people to use in their home.
Before that, computers were these huge and expensive machines that only universities, the military or large corporations could afford. You can find pictures of these old computer as well. They often took up large rooms. The hard drive was literally the size of a washing machine, and a memory board was the size of a refrigerator.
There were computers well before Jobs created the first Apple. For example, the Altair computer kit came out in 1974 (Apple was 1976). The Altair even has a DOS and Basic interpreter, some of which was actually written by Bill Gates (with Paul Allen) before he formed Microsoft.
There were other computers before 1974, though most were simple kits with no storage, etc…
There were already computers for years. They were not that clever.
