I would like to know if it s safe to leave the Ethernet cord plugged into my pc when I reset my router or if I should unplug it. I don t want to shock anything! Thanks 😀
Noah: First, the signal lines are low voltage. That is why there isn't insulation on the pins and the pins are accesible, there is no chance of any shock.
Yes, and resetting the router, the ethernet card will notice the signal on the line going down and up (once the router is again working). So it will go through the same motions as if you took the cable out and put it back in.
It should do a DHCP Request for the same ip it had, and the router will DHCP Ack to probably say that IP is free and you can use it.
Nothing will happen and besides if you unplug the Ethernet cord you are wearing out the Ethernet socket making it go slower
You don't have to, it's not necessary to unplug the Ethernet cord. Nothing will happen.
If you turn off your router, the PC will think the cable has been unplugged anyway because it wont receive any signal from the other end.
No you don't need to unplug the cable at all.
