Lost all audio after a day or 2 after getting back computer from tech who replaced several items including hard drive, disc drive, keyboard and operating system was upgraded (UPNO!) from Windows XP to 10. Regardless, "Googled" every possible remedy to restore volume and made things worseNow I have a red "x" where volume is and claims that "no audio output device is installed". Tried everything and just now tried to "reset" computer and after 10+ minutes got the message that no changes where made to the computer because problems occurred. HELP!!!!!!

Suggest you ask the guy that worked on the PC if he has any suggestions.

Sounds like a driver or hardware issues. Strange that it worked at first though. You can try a full power off reset (at the wall) and see if that changes anything.

BTW, XP is ancient history now, gone like a dead Dingo. XP WAS a great operating system. 10 years ago. Time to let it go and move on.

John:
Reset the driver as follows: go into Device Manager, select the audio driver, right click then select 'uninstall'. Then restart the PC.

Sounds like a hardware problem, nothing to do with Windows. The sound pieces are not plugged in correctly; or the correct drivers for them are not installed.
kelvin:
go into control panel and look for sounds, speech and audio devices and try too fix your problem there
