I pressed the WPS button on my router now none of the devices connected to the wifi will connect to the internet,I tried everything to turning it off and resetting the wifi and password. What should I do
If you had devices connected by WiFi, then why did you press the WPS button? WPS has a major security flaw and should be completely disabled.
Check that the WPS button is not stuck in the pressed position. Connect to the router by Ethernet and log on to the router.
Have you read through the manual about the router to see if it helps. Many manuals include a trouble-shooting section. Unfortunately, since you omitted any detail of the make and model of router from your question (like so many people do) I cannot look up the manual and offer any advice.
Pressing the 'reset' button can be a last resort. For DSL routers, pressing this button can wipe out the information the router needs to connect to the ISP. If you have done this, you may have to contact your ISP to get the information, or it might be in whatever information they sent you when you signed up for their service.
Here are some things to check out:
1) Can you log in to the router's configuration pages over Ethernet?
2) Can you log in to the router's configuration pages over WiFi? If you can then WiFi is working.
3) Can you access one of your devices from another device? Typically, can you access a wireless printer or file share between computers?
You should do these tests before calling the ISP. You should also download a copy of the manual if you do not have one. Obviously you have some form of Ethernet connection as you have asked this question.
I hope this helps.
To use WPS to connect to your WiFi network:
1.Make sure that your router is receiving power (the Power LED is lit).
2.Check the WPS instructions for your computer or WiFi device.
3.Press the WPS button on your router.
4.Within two minutes, on your computer or WiFi device, press its WPS button or follow its instructions for WPS connections.
Your computer or WiFi device connects to the WiFi network.
If all you truly did was press the WPS button, then…
Power off your router for 20 secs… then power it back on. This will reboot your router and allow the Wi-Fi devices to reconnect to it. Don't use that button in the future… NO ONE EVER figures out how to use that stupid thing correctly.
Resetting the wifi password won't fix your issues. You'll have to log into your admin page and fix it from there. If not, then completely reset your router by locating the "Reset" button somewhere on the device.
