Windows 10 home updates no matter what you want, one of the downsides of windows 10.

My advice, get win 7 or 8.1

there is a trick on windows 10 pro to delay it, and IIRC there is a trick about setting your connection to a metered one to delay updates, but that is only a temporary stop.

Microsoft is trying to do Windows as a service, there fancy way of saying they control a large section of the market so they can do whatever they want whenever they want and people will sit back and take it.

PS: part of the EULA you signed to use windows 10 says they can read and keep copies of your Emails if they think it might help them "enforce there copyright, comply with government orders, or improve there services"

To be fair, i think they dropped that last bit after public outrage.

Lets the updates run.

By default Win10 keeps itself up to date, and there has been a large "university" update rolled out in stages over the last month, and it's one that's time consuming to install.

In earlier versions it was easy to turn off the updates, so people did because it annoyed them. Then they got infected with a virus, get even more annoyed, and blamed MS/ Windows for letting it in. When the flaw had already been fixed, they had just run the update.

Windows 10 Home will do the updates when it wants too and you cant change that. Windows 10 Pro on the other hand, will allow you to delay updates.

Let it update! It is designed to be forever up to date. It should update every day (or more often) with new virus signatures at least, every week (or more often) with updates to the applications from the store, every month (or more often) with bug fixes and security patches, and every 6 months (or more often) with new functionality in Windows 10.

Let it update, there are so many errors and security holes in it that you need all the updates you can get.
