ItsHyperGamer: It depends exactly how and where it is positioned.
Also, if there is any justification for it such as previous instances of drug use in the toilets etc. – if so, it could cover more than a general security camera.
Schools have a legal obligation of care to students & can do pretty much anything a parent could do in their home. You have about the same right to privacy in school as you do from your parents at home – ie. not a lot.
Not legal if it shows the urinals or stalls. However, legal (in some areas) if it only shows the sinks or doorways.
I would ask the local police station if such a camera is legal in your area. They may want to investigate. If it meets "legal" requirements, it will stay. If there is any question about it, it will be removed…
The USA and UK laws are different in this, and other countries can have other standards.
In the UK, unless recently changed, the cameras can be inside lavatories and locker rooms if not facing into stalls. Stalls must have working doors meeting privacy guidance. The cameras are allowed when reasonably justified if there is an expectation of student bullying, illegal activities, or a history of damage.
The USA considers the entire locker room or lavatory a place of reasonable expectation of privacy and cameras are illegal.
There can be a camera for safety it's not aimed at your private parts it watch's for violence and drugs and weapons and it's monitored if men by a man if it's in the women's by a women!
And yes it's legal! Some restrooms Evan have a restroom attendant!
It is not legal
Sure it is.
