He can pretty much see everything I do which in my opinions, is a bit of a violation of my privacy. We always use the same wifi network and I really need to know if there is a way that it can be blocked/stopped on my MacBook air
There is a very delicate line here. Your father wants to protect you but you need room to screw up and see the results of bad decisions. This is what growing up is all about.
Now, where do you draw this line? How old are you? Have you made bad decisions in the past? Why is he doing this? Is it a result of your past actions or is he trying to protect you from bad decisions made by some of your friends. Have you used the computer in a way that isolates you from the family?
This situation will not get better unless you can have a calm discussion about it with your father.
You're a kid, you have no right to privacy.
As a dad, I can tell you, the second you start trying to bypass it, that's when you lose the macbook completely. The sooner you get used to the fact that he can see everything, and there is nothing you can do about it, the better.
Is it installed on the computer, or with the router? If you are not old enough to buy a PC (with a job) then you shouldn't complain. How old are you?
An invasion of privacy? Really?
Assuming he paid for the laptop then he has all rights to do that until your 18. However, if you are over 18 and wish to disable it simply disconnect from the internet, run ctrl-alt-del and kill the process.
Your under 18 – You have NO Right to Privacy from your parents.
