I am tired of weak signals, getting kicked off even in some of the bigger hotels. What is an alternative when using my laptop?
Jamie: You can try buying a personal hotspot that will work wherever you go. You just connect the hotspot to your computer and have wifi.
I use the Ethernet when ever possible. I also use a DIR-510L portable router when possible to protect myself from the hotels network. As it is, last time I found a TWC hotspot that was nearby and I have tethered my phone cause it got great speed when the hotel was just a few Kbps.
Do complain to all hotels when it is bad. Many don't get it that this is the most important thing they offer beyond a bed.
Pay for your own access thru a mifi device. If roaming, this can be very expensive.
Take your own USB dongle which connects to the cell phone network, is the only way.
