Question: Is there a way to use an ethernet cable to extend wifi to another building?
Answer: Hell Yes! I've done it on on several sites with multiple buildings.
Chris:
yeah, you can run the cable from one building to another, but if you are going to go farther than 150 meters, the signal shall become very bad… you'll want to set up a repeater or an extender of some sort…
deboerdn2000:
as long as the cable run itself is no longer then 100m(330feet) if you intend on using copper, fiber can go significantly further. then its just a matter of installing a switch to boost the signal and installing an access point. highly recommend running conduit instead of having to dig it all up again(once again id say minimum 1inch but i prefer to go 1 1/4" for ease of pulling even if single run. ive done it many times. And don't bother listening to franco. He is correct ur not extending your wifi your expanding your coverage with more access points but you do not need to have multiple modems. I do this stuff for a living and am currently working on a residential 10g network with full automation system from crestron.

Yes, to connect two routers physically and by setting up the additional router as an access point instead. The problem is that CAT5 cables have a limit of 100 meters if I'm not mistaken.

David E:
You run the Ethernet to that other building then put a Wireless Access Point on the end of it.
BigE:
It has to be < 100 meter run or with some type of switch between.
TvT:
You can but need to purchase another device (router).

Router/Switch > lan cable > Router

no
