If I buy something on Craigslist and I pay by sending the seller money via PayPal, because I sent them money, is there a possibility that they may hack into my account? (yes, I am full aware that People who post on Craigslist have a tendency to be scammers and awful people in general if you know what I mean)

if they are a scammer they can easily hack your account. What they do is send you a fake Paypal email that is a phishing scam. You'll get some email claiming there is a problem with the transaction or asking you to confirm the transaction and there will be a link. You click on the link and it will take you to a page that looks exactly like Paypal asking you to log in. When you do, you just gave your login details to the scammer

Craigslist is ONLY for face to face CASH transactions or you will get scammed 99% of the time. If you don't want to carry a lot of cash, tell the seller to meet you at your bank and you withdraw the money there or you have him watch you get a certified check

XY Z:
I've been using it for all online purchases for over ten years, and never had a problem. I'd rather use PayPal then give someone my credit card information. If you are hacked, PayPal will cover it, but just use a strong password and you won't have any problems.
The seller might rip you off on the merchandise, but they won't hack PayPal unless you give them your password. I'm not sure I would buy anything from Craigslist though.
Good luck

call the credit card company and ask. they'll usually cancel your card if they think something's suspicious, but i'd call
