i have bought an asus laptop 2 days ago and it has already stopped working. i forcefully turned it off because it had frozen, but when i turned it back on the inaccessible_boot_device error appeared and i couldn t load windows anymore. i can t do the system restore for i have not established a restore point yet and i can t really reinstall windows as it says the files are locked (?). is there another way for me to fix this without having to pay to get windows reinstalled in store?

Files locked???…on a brand new computer???…are you sure you got a new computer that came in a factory sealed box???….I'd take that computer and skip asking for a repair….demand an exchange for a new one in a factory sealed box…..
Oh and when you get it home…..after you turn it on for the first time…..takes your hands off the keyboard….and wait till you are asked to answer a question…..Also after you get to the desktop…..do not start installing software….you will have a load of OS updates that you will need to download first…..get that out of the way first…after all the updates are done…..then you can start adding your own software…

That looks like a BIOS error, which might require a visit to the computer doctor…. When you turn it on, is there a way to drop-out of the boot-up and get into the BIOS ???
Norm F:
From what you are saying this sounds like a Hard disc fault unless you have somehow corrupted the boot sector.
As you have just bought it it should be under warranty so take it back for repair.
