Laptop – Dell Inspiron i3 / 4GB RAM / 500GB SATA HDD / originally came with Win 8 installed, auto update to Win 10.

Issue -Windows recovery starts to windows defender local & within minutes its the black screen only. HDD seek stops & restart happens few minutes later.

the worst is – No Backup / Windows

the worst is – No Backup / Windows key (got erased from laptop body) & never created Boot Disk.

im ready to give more details if contacted in sjavid@yahoo.com.

F8 isn't a reliable way to get to advanced boot options
After several failed boot attempts windows 10 automatically gets to advanced boot configuration.
If you are already there go troubleshooting, advanced, startup repair or system restore
If you still can't get to advanced boot mode you can make a windows repair disk from any working windows 10 PC
control panel, recovery

or you can make a windows 10 USB installation disk from windows 10 media creation tool, this will also offer a repair/re installation facility

On power up, hit F8 repeatedly to get to boot options.
Try most recent successful start option.
Try System Restore back to date when it worked correctly. Try that.
Try a System Repair option (NOT INSTALL FRESH !)
Try a Repair Install from a DVD or USB drive that is bootable. If you made none, and Win 10 erased your hidden Win8 partition for recovery, you can download and make a bootable one. Search Google how to.
Best if you take this to a repair shop or get a knowledgeable person to help you.

Friend if your computer didn't start in 3 minutes take it to a shop letting it stay stuck will only cost you$100 more for the hard drive your toasting letting it repeat the error
chrisjbsc:
You don't need a windows key to reinstall windows 10. The registration for that pc is known, and will be auto re-used.
