I have an iomega external hard drive, that i am now not able to open.
Previously i had a windows computer (vaio) that, when i plugged in the external drive, opened two small pop up windows.
I would dismiss the first one (because if i did open the files trough that one i wouldn't be able to access them)
And i had to click only on the second one in order for it to work.
I now have a macbook and, as you might know, iOS doesn't lead to these pop up windows that ask you if you want to access your files when you connect something to your laptop.
And even though the hard drive is recognized by the computer (it appears on my desktop) if i click it i cannot open my files as it leads to the same situation it did when i tried to access them through the first pop up window when i had my previous pc.

If you can help me that would be extremely helpful because as i already have files in the hard drive i cannot format it completely

Thank you for your time and help
🙂

You might need something like Paragon NTFS for your Mac. This allows you to see and use NTFS partitioned drives, but doesn't hurt the Mac to have it there.

Free from Seagate for Seagate and a few other drives. Otherwise, worth buying full version anyway.

Duncan:
Macs do not use iOS.

"if i did open the files trough that one i wouldn't be able to access them"

If you have opened a file you have accessed it.

If you open a Finder window is the drive listed in the sidebar? Can you select it and and access the files once they are listed in the window?
