MY first question is : "Good length book with at least 5 chapters"? Five chapters is barely a short story. Any text program will do that with no problems as long as you learn how to format the pages for size, style, etc.

Open Office.

For actual typing Libreoffice is free and very good. It can open previous documents written using MS Office. Libreoffice is the updated version of Openoffice. If you want something that will do the typing for you while you merely dictate the words by reading through a microphone, there is software available for that situation also. http://search.aol.com/aol/search?q=Dicta…

I recommend Libreoffice. Open Office is okay, but in my opinion using Open Office is like using and outdated version of Libreoffice.
