I don't have a Power DVD app on my comp.
Windows media player doesn't work to play DVDs.
The DVDs don't start on their own when I insert the disk.
Yes VLC player..
With regard to not starting , that is down to the autoplay settings .
Hold down windows key and press the X key.
Click "Control panel".
Type "Autoplay" in control panel search box .
Check the box "Use autoplay for devices" (First option)
Select your preference for DVD Movie.
I have no issues on my older HP desktop…………..sometimes when I insert a DVD, there will be no indication that a DVD is there BUT if you click on the toolbar, on the right, under "show hidden icons" then the dvd player will be there
Use VLC player. I've been using for almost 6 years and rarely has it ever failed me.
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html Best of all, it's completely free; unlike the $15 app M$ want's you to buy.
Install the vlc player.
