Am I an idiot or did microsoft make their software harder to use? The menu thing on the right side keeps coming up by itself, and so I'll accidentally open PC settings. like 3 times a day. The only way I know how to get out of it is to click control panel. I close that window but then the task manager shows PC settings is still running. I have to right click PC settings in task manager and go to "end task". Clicking the arrow doesn't do it, and there's no X to click. How am I SUPPOSED to get out of PC settings?

Update to Windows 8.1 to get the window controls at the top. You can also still use the Alt-F4 shortcut to close an application. Normally you'd grab the application from the top with the mouse and drag it down to close it, but you should update to Windows 8.1.
more:
Hover your mouse over the top right of the window. The x will appear.

They were trying to design it for touch screens and didn't put much thought into how well it would work on non-touch screens. I never tried Win8 on a touch screen, I suspect it wasn't well designed for that, either.

Win10 has a much better interface. Unfortunately, the free upgrade offer is over.

Gigabyte:
go up to where the X should be at the top right and just keep moving you mouse up at the top right and the x will appear

this goes for every app

this issue is fixed in windows 10

Andrew:
Hover your mouse over the top right of the window. The x will appear.
