I use a windows vista and yes i know they stopped doing update for chrome on it, BUT if i uninstall chrome and re-download it from the site will it give me the updated version? Is that how it works?
You don't uninstall chrome and then reinstall to get the latest. It will update over the current version IF it can.
When you open chrome you would click in the top right hand corner where you see 3 small lines over each other. Then help, then about google chrome, then update chrome. You aren't going to see an update button when you do these steps, however, because the oldest OS that Chrome now supports is Windows 7. But I just wanted to explain the process for you so in the future if you ever get a newer operating system you would understand how it works to update Chrome MANUALLY. The updates happen for a normal situation (a computer with a modern operating system) automatically.
Normally updates happen in the background when you close and reopen your computer's browser. But if you haven't closed your browser in a while you might see the Chrome menu in the top right change colors:
Update Chrome A green menu means an update's been available for 2 days.
update An orange menu means an update's been available for 4 days.
Red menu A red menu means an update's been available for 7 days.
To update Google Chrome:
In the top right, click the Chrome menu Chrome menu.
Click Update Google Chrome. If you don't see this button, you're on the latest version.
The browser saves your opened tabs and windows and reopens them automatically when it restarts. If you'd prefer not to restart right away, click Not now. The next time you restart your browser, the update will be applied.
To get an updated version of Chrome, go to Chrome menu in top right then click the Chrome Menu>Help>About Google Chrome. Here you will see the version of Chrome, if it's not updated, click on update to get the latest version of Chrome.
No, that's not how it works.
You were supposed to Upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 or W 8 FIRST. Then, Upgrade to the latest version of Google Chrome effortlessly.
This is the only way to get the Chrome Web Browser's LATEST version.
Chrome is generally default browser nowadays. And it updates itself when an update is released. Perhaps Vista has been the most untrustworthy offspring of Windows. You can download and install a latest version from trusted site But first you have to uninstall the older version totally from your pc including residual files.
there is no need to uninstall chrome… go to top right chrome, click the Chrome menu>Help>About Google Chrome. Then you will see the version of your chrome, if it is not updated, click on update to get the latest version of chrome.
No, if you use Windows Vista, Chrome will no longer update itself. If you re-download it, it won't work.
