A guy knows my name and state, I
Didn't have my name or location accessible where he messsged me and he knew what my first name was and the state I live in. He claimed to have my IP address, but I looked it up and every article says having an IP address doesn't reveal the your name to anyone. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but if he's bluffing about having my IP address, how does he know who I am and where I live. He threatened to report me to the FBI for something I said online like five years ago and was asking for pictures of my chest as well. I'm kind of thinking this is either a scam or a hacker.
What he is doing is illegal. Report it, you must have evidence as he has asked you via some method. 5 years ago you were younger and something you said is not really revenant now whereas asking you for naked images is illegal especially as you are not 5 tears older most like of adult age as is he. This is someone who most like already knows you from high school or college and it acting like a stalker.
Spend $40 or $50 on some good Internet security software (e.g. https://www.avast.com/en-us/store or https://us.norton.com/norton-security-an… and run a full scan to see if your machine has a virus or spy software on it. You IP does not identify you as you will be using an IP that you Internet provider has given you and unless this is a fixed address that never changes (which normally they are not) then it is bluff on his side. He knows your name because he knows you from somewhere. Free antivirus software is very limited so a years subscription to a purchased application is more in depth security and Norton actually allow you to install on multiple systems like 2 PC and a smartphone for the cost.
He has tried to threaten and scare you into providing naked images which is a crime in most states – YOU are the victim here so speak to the local police about this as it is the definition of "stalking" you. Information you post on Facebook or LinkedIn or any forum you joined where that person is the forum administrator will see information about you. Personally I think this person already knows you from the past – e.g. High School or college. Also if he took a picture of you without your knowledge then he can use things like Google Image search to find other picture of you face online so if you have posted pictures on Facebook it "might" show these to him. You IP does not identify your address but other thins can – idk this person works for a company that you have dealing with – electrical or telephone company.
Personally I would report to the local police and tell them you are concerned – if he has asked for pictures of you you have evidence.
Hi people only see what you send out. so Facebook is the usual source of such pictures or made up with software so if you where so dumb as to send something out yes it goes around the world. these cyber bullies feed of what ever you are dumb enough show others. this is not a private line or link it is open shooting here on the internet. the biggest cesspool on the planet.
as a former systems manager they can always make things up and send them if your so dumb as too share anything with anyone.
The guy might've found information of you on another site, or something else you use. That's how it's possible, or someone that your friends with or know, is friends with the guy. Or, the guy is just an expert hacker. That's pretty much it.
It's a scam….your IP address does not contain your name or your home address…..could just be someone from your school pulling a prank on you….ignore / block them….
Hmm! Do we really give a ….?
