The question might anger some, or just seem really stupid. I'm really interested in anything that has to do with computers, the only problem is that I have absolutely no idea where to start. I know basic HTML and some Java, but I'm still confused about what I should do with those.

Not long ago I thought about hacking and penetration testing. This might sound awkward but the idea of hacking into systems and such is pretty freaking cool.
Someone told me that hacking doesn't necessarily need an extensive knowledge of multiple Programming/Scripting languages, which came as a pleasant surprise since I had trouble deciding which language to pick.
Where would it be possible to learn hacking, penetration testing etc.
Also, keep in mind that the education system is a bitdifferent, so I learn minimal Mathematics and Physics at school and I'm in a class that's mainly oriented towards Literature, Geography and such.

?: That's awesome that you have an interest in learning how to hack. I too have that interest and in the last year have learned so much. It is true that you do not need to know much programming. You do have to be able to learn some though. Check out the website http://www.null-byte.wonderhowto.com
It's full of step by step guides on different hacks and programs. Do research and have fun. I personally use 2 computers, one as my Hacking computer, the other as my target machine. Good luck.

I am an IT security professional with some experience in pentesting. Knowing basic HTML and some Java is definitely a start, but there is so much more you need to know. Networks, routing, switching, sockets, and ports are definitely mandatory knowledge. Also things like CPU architecture, memory management, the stack, and the heap. Tools like nmap, metasploit, maltego, and BEEF will help a lot. Just stay curious and be prepared to spend the rest of your life in some sort of school and you'll get there. Good luck.
Negotiator:
Start with WordPress, learn to make plugins and themes. Don't bother learning HTML or Java in any attempt to building something from scratch.. You are better off learning how to work on existing and well established frameworks.
Integration 20:
Do an internet search for "Offensive Security" and "Kali tutorials".

Also download a VM of some kind so you can practice hacking at home on your own computer.

Duncan:
Definitely work on improving your HTML skills as that will be top of most lists for hacker skills.
Elaine M:
Might be cool, but it gets you jail time.

It's the equivalent of someone breaking into your house and taking your things. Or making off with your car.
