Sometimes when loading a page it only appears as text like this page explains: http://superuser.com/questions/368041/why-do-webpages-sometimes-appear-as-plain-html-before-a-refresh I want to force a page to do that. How can I make a page load as HTML?

It depends. With Firefox, you can use the View menu to ignore CSS styling.

* Right click on the title bar and check Menu Bar to make the menu visible.
* Click View > Page Style > No Style

That will give you a view something like what happens when the CSS files from a site get blocked, like what seems to have happened to the asker of that SuperUser question.

Chrome and Opera don't seem to have this capability.

Simpson:
Tell the server to serve it as
Content-Type: text/plain

If you don't know how, you probably can't.

Windowphobe:
You don't have this option. Go find yourself a text-based browser like Lynx.
