"Help Im trying to reset my mac When i hold command and r it takes me to the login screen still what do I do?"
Which "mymac" is it? (Model, age, and OS X version number)
Does this "login screen" actually show your user name? If not, it isn't a login screen, so tell us what you see on the screen.
Try one of these…
– Unplug any non-Apple keyboard. Use the original keyboard that came with the Mac or use an Apple keyboard with a Mac mini.
– For OS X version 10.6.8 or older, boot to the DVD that shipped with the computer, open Disk Utility, erase, quit Disk Utility, and install.
– If you lost the DVD or threw it out in the trash, buy one, link below.
Lastly, and the best advice….
– Forget the idea of resetting and solve whatever issue you face. Erasing a drive is not needed, unless Disk Utility finds a problem that it cannot repair.
Which Mac? Which macOS? Older versions do not support Command R.
Something doesn't smell right here. Are you getting a screen with a lock on it?
you do that during a start to start it into mac recovery mode, but it may be different depending on which mac you have
