I listed my iPhone 6s Plus on eBay the other day at around 11 pm, and within 2 minutes, somebody had purchased my phone! I was so happy! Since I don t have a business account with eBay, I don t have the option for immediate payment, so the buyer has 48 hours to pay me. The woman who purchased my phone contacted me saying that she sent the payment, but I never received it. I told her I didn t get the money, and she said she would resubmit it, and asked me to check my junk mail, which I did and still nothing. Even after she supposively resubmitted the payment, I didn t get a confirmation. I waited 48 hours and cancelled the order, and relisted my item in the mid-afternoon. Once again, about 3-5 minutes later, somebody bought my phone. Through eBay s automated system, she clicked on an option which said that she sent the payment. I checked, and nothing. I m not sure if there s a high demand for this phone or something, but it seems odd that people are buying it within minutes of me listing it. I am very new to eBay, so does this seem like a scam? Not sure what to do.
It's a scam.
Unless the item appears as PAID in your Ebay transaction history and you go to Paypal.com and see the money, you did not get paid.
Never trust any emails – they are easily faked
If you are paid it will appear in your Ebay transaction history. You never send anything until it appears as Paid in your Ebay transaction history AND you go to Paypal.com and see the money. Then you ONLY send to the address that appears in your Ebay transaction history
And please tell me you didn't give your Paypal address to this scammer. You NEVER give out Paypal details to anyone on Ebay for any reason. That's why you use Ebay – to protect your account. The buyer pays through Ebay and never needs your Paypal details as they don't pay you directly
And you never list anything expensive like a phone, laptop, etc on Ebay as a new seller as scammers target you. You always start by selling at least 5 cheap items to figure out how Ebay works. Make sure your settings show you do not ship overseas or accept bids from overseas buyers
But ignore this one. Your phone did not sell. Until you see it as paid in your Ebay history keep the auction open. DO NOT write back to this scammer for any reason – report them to Ebay
Likely a scam.
If you don't see the payment on Paypal.com after they say they've sent payment block the buyer and relist
