sarah: As with most things in computers, theres many ways to complete your objective.
Heres my suggestion.
You want to save the HTML to your drive before attempting to open it. Once saved locally, you can change the file extension to .txt which will allow you to double-click to open it in your default text editor.
Otherwise, you can open up Notepad itself, then on the File menu, choose Open. From there, you can browse to where you saved the HTML. If you dont see your file, note pad is simply filtering out files that are not routinely opened with notepad. simply click the drop-down below where the filename should be. Then choose the All Files filter which will make your HTML file available to be opened.

What is happening is you have the default program to open .html files as Internet Explorer(or some other browser). If you right-click the file, select Open With, and then select to Notepad then it will open the .html file in Notepad. Alternatively, you could simply open up your Notepad application, click on File, select Open, and then navigate to your .html file and open it directly from Notepad.
EddieJ:
Open Notepad, then, go to the other window (where you had right clicked) and drag the file (hold down left mouse button) to the Notepad window and let go of the button.

open… find file… open
