My computer froze so I held down the power button until it shut down. But when I push it down again to restart it, it only goes half way and then blacks out. How to fix?

Best Answer:

Alyssa: You would have to boot into safe mode.

If that doesn't help you then you might try to reformat.

Sometimes a file error will cause the system to hang and crash.

If you can't do that, then your hard drive might be bad.

You need to boot into Windows recovery environment and restore your pc. When you power on your computer, press and hold the F8 or F9 key. You'll see a blue window with options. Select "Repair your computer" or "Advanced Options". Select "System Restore" and pick one restore point. Wait for it to restore your pc and restart.

This guide is only for Windows 7, 8 and 10. This will not work in any other OS

search for a win recovery cd on the net and boot from it most of the disks have registry and other recovery tools on them
