If I use an expensive hardware firewall (those that designed for corporation/business's network use) in my home network. Will that be able to provide me better protection against malware and hacker attack? (compared to if I use an ordinary home modem router).
Ritz: It could. You just need to know what you're doing and set it up correctly… otherwise it would be useless.
The cost of the router doesn't matter. It's the security features that matter. There are some routers that allow you to set up a very strict firewall at a very low price while some expensive ones hardly have options at all.
The fancy firewalls have more options and are faster, but a home router is fine if it's configured properly.
the router or modem has nothing to do with a firewall !! you can use a windows firewall which is free and offers excellent protection
Yes. Much better. As long as it is properly configured!
